₹ 2000 : Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN)

The PM-KISAN scheme is a Central Sector initiative launched by the Government of India on December 1, 2018, and officially rolled out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 24, 2019, in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. It aims to provide financial support to small and marginal farmers across the country. Under this scheme, eligible landholding farmer families receive an income support of ₹6,000 per year, disbursed in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months. The funds are transferred directly into the beneficiaries' bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Key Features:
  • Eligibility: All landholding farmer families with cultivable land in their names are eligible, regardless of the size of their holdings (expanded from an initial limit of 2 hectares). However, certain categories are excluded, such as institutional landholders, families with members holding constitutional posts, or those who paid income tax in the last assessment year.
  • Objective: The scheme supplements farmers’ financial needs for agricultural inputs, allied activities, and domestic expenses, aiming to ensure crop health, appropriate yields, and economic stability.
  • Funding: It is fully funded by the Government of India, with an annual allocation of around ₹75,000 crore.
  • Implementation: State and Union Territory governments are responsible for identifying eligible beneficiaries. Farmers can register through the PM-KISAN portal (pmkisan.gov.in), Common Service Centres (CSCs), or local revenue officers, and must complete e-KYC (using Aadhaar) to receive benefits.
Recent Updates (as of March 30, 2025):
  • Over ₹2.8 lakh crore has been disbursed to more than 11 crore farmers since the scheme’s inception.
  • The 19th installment was released on February 24, 2025, in Bhagalpur, Bihar, distributing over ₹22,000 crore to more than 9.8 crore farmers, including 2.41 crore women farmers.
  • The scheme continues to emphasize transparency and efficiency through digital platforms, with farmers able to check their status or beneficiary list online.
